Chapter 6
Making a Move
In the morning, Savannah felt nearly just as restless as she did the previous night. She was awoken by Camdenâs crying and picked him up to soothe him. He soon yawned himself to sleep as she gently put him back into his crib.
Her phone taunted her and her fingers yearned to text Vivian to apologize for something she wasnât sure of. She decided against it and headed to the bathroom to wash up. She didnât like what she saw in the mirror. The guilt hadnât been nice to her the previous night, and it started to show as fine lines across her face and under her eyes.
Savannah pulled at the skin at her lids and wondered how she had accumulated so much stress for only being twenty-six. Things had to give, and she had to come clean about how she was feeling. Sometime soon, but maybe it just wasnât the time yet.
âAre you ready for some yum yum?â Savannah cooed as she picked Camden up from his crib. She bounced him before putting him on his favorite spot against her shoulder. She deposited him in his highchair before heading for the cabinet.
But if Vivian loved her, wouldnât she give her some time to think? Sure, she had thought it the night before, and yeah, maybe she was the one to ask Vivian out. It was an open invitation to Vivian and Vivian had every right to get mad for being rejected⦠Enough.
She was psyching herself out. Things had to give, and something needed to change. But ultimately, what was she so afraid of? Jacey was supportive, and she did not have any other friends who would deny her lifestyle. Her parents were definitely not in the way to stop her. Maybe she was her own worst enemy.
Seconds later, her phone rang. Nervously yet hopefully, Savannah grabbed it. She saw Tonyâs name on the screen and put it back down, knowing that whatever it was, it could wait. She was in a current Savivian crisis. And the crisis was she wasnât letting herself love the person she really wanted to love.
Savannah was completely oblivious to the fact that Camden had allowed himself to get elbow deep in his mashed peas. When she did, she couldnât care less. He was amusing himself and cleaning him up could wait.
Tonyâs name flashed on her phone screen once more. She ignored it and grabbed her guitar. She let herself mull over the words that had put her in such deep thought a few days ago, and disappeared into their tones.
It had crossed her mind many times whether she wanted to post her songs to a solo social media account, but she couldn't bring herself to. Savannah was just so successful with One Girl, and in a way, it felt like when she was cheating on them by posting a separate account. Savannah then decided to push all of her feelings to the back of her mind. She still had a show to do after all.
